Early in the second a counter jab dropped Pereira, and Gane swarmed with punches and elbows along the fence until Herb Dean stepped in at 1:27 — claiming the interim heavyweight title and denying Pereira a historic third-division belt.

Pure, fight-ending power that has finished a who's-who of light heavyweights — 11 of his 13 wins are knockouts, built on a left hook and chopping calf kicks few survive. He stopped Jiří Procházka twice and iced Jamahal Hill in a round, and his takedown defense has quietly become a strength. He doesn't need to win the exchange count; he needs one clean shot, and almost nobody in the sport lands cleaner.
